I am Andrea Barcsai-Debrődi, the creator of Rebelle Beton Design products.
Concrete as a craft material was not a conscious choice at all, we found each other completely by chance. I quickly developed the feeling that this is the material I can work with in the long term, which provides me with continuous inspiration. I try to associate concrete with as wide a range and as different materials as possible.
Currently, the combination of concrete and waste glass plays a major role in my daily work. In this way, I can also reuse accidentally broken glass objects and use them to give them a new life in a concrete object. It is also possible to combine concrete with concrete, in which case I mix pre-made concrete chips of different colours into the concrete mass, and then after a long grinding process, a terrazzo-like, unique pattern is formed. This method has a special uniqueness because the concrete chips emerge from the concrete as a surprise, so it is almost impossible to create two objects with the same pattern in this way.
The palette for decorating jewellery is also quite broad. I often use different glitters, paints, colouring pastes, or different decorative pebbles. Concrete has become more than a mixture of sand, cement, and water for me, it embodies strength and stability, which I hope every owner of a Rebelle Beton Design product will feel, whether it is jewellery or even a home accessory.
