Béla Kozák ‘Vascsoda’ (Iron magic) was born in Budapest in the spring of 1969. When he was a child, he moved with his parents to a small market town, Mezőtúr. He has lived here ever since. The small town is divided into two by the Berettyó River. The proximity of small forests, fields and several rivers, the beauty of nature, had a great influence on him. His love for nature encourages him to live an environmentally conscious lifestyle. He had the idea of ‘Vascsoda’ in 2019 and since protecting the environment is important to him, he creates his works from metal waste and old tools. He makes them from tools that have been discarded by others. He shapes his sculptures in such a way that the tools and parts remain recognizable. Anyone can identify with his simplicity, creativity and what he has to say. He has had exhibitions with other artists several times. In the summer of 2024, his mobility was limited due to a serious illness, but this did not dampen his spirits. The artist’s desire and love for creation remained. Since his illness, with the help of his wife, as he says: “My Eszter, my left hand”, creates his sculptures.”
