I am Dalma Versánszky, the founder of the Versánszky jewellery brand.
I created the brand in 2022, intending to combine sustainability and contemporary jewellery design. At the beginning of my career, I combined recycled, 3D-printed PET with 925 sterling silver, and then silver jewellery became increasingly prominent in my collections. The silver I use is not freshly mined raw material, but is reborn from unused objects that are re-melted to take on a different shape and new meaning.
My family heritage defines my work. My grandfather and father ran an antique shop, so I grew up surrounded by beautiful objects and learned to appreciate the stories behind them. My goal is for jewellery to be more than a one-time, “disposable” accessory. I aim to create pieces that generations will wear and have stories associated with them – just like a piece of jewellery inherited from a grandmother. Each piece is an opportunity to create new value from the past and give personal meaning to the future.
I completed my studies at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, where I learned about Neri Oxman’s work, which strongly inspired me with its use of alternative materials and sustainable design mind-set.
Versánszky is not only a brand for me, but also an approach: objects and jewellery have a soul and a story that is worth writing about.
