I make jewellery using electronic and other waste materials. I like to work with anything I happen to come across, especially if it’s a new material. Even though people who know the brand tend to think of me in terms of recycling, I originally made my first piece of jewellery about ten years ago because I liked the pattern and colour of a chipboard. I didn’t even think I was recycling, but that was part of it. When I work, my first priority is still always to bring out the most beautiful or interesting form of any object.

Plastics and electronics have not been with us for as long as wood, clay, textiles or even metals, but if scientists and those concerned about the future of the planet are to be believed, what we have made from them will be with us for a long time longer. For this reason, I believe we must look for beauty in them as well as in nature and learn to live with them. A good way to do this is to create something lasting, something kind, something personal. I also want to show with my jewellery that we can all make something better out of the simplest things around us, even materials that at first glance seem to be trash.
