Márti Harpist

I am Márti Szederkényi. The name Márti Harpist is not by chance – in civilian life, I am a music teacher and harpist. Unlike many, crafts did not bring me undivided joy even as a child: I did not have a good hand for small, delicate things – the only exception was music…

Then, in 2019, by a (not so) coincidence, jewellery parts, minerals, and then jewellery wires came to the fore… What once started as a hobby is now an integral part of my everyday life: a kind of quiet creation, where my hands, eyes, and soul work together.

When I make jewellery, I seek harmony and coherence just as I do as a music teacher. The play of colours, shapes, and materials is like a well-composed melody for me – every detail has its place, and together they create something whole and beautiful. I prefer to work with minerals and colourful jewellery wires, always looking for exciting shapes, bold or subdued colour combinations. Yet, I often return to classical proportions – as in music, inner harmony is important to me in my jewellery.
