My name is Zoltán Panta, I live in Körmend, Vas County, and I create primarily in the scrap metal art genre. I use the nickname “colownhead” on social media (Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok, Facebook) when I upload photos and short videos of my work. I started working with scrap metal recycling techniques about 5 years ago, but I have been and still am working with 3D modeling, inlay, carpentry, engraving, and so on. I like to mix materials and styles because almost any usable, malleable material can fit into the recycling category. Metals, including iron, copper, and steel, have really captivated me with their ability to be incredibly versatile and to create almost any shape. Basically, I like to keep the original shape of the starting materials and assemble my works in such a way that the initial functionality of the parts is visible in the final appearance. You could say that I play a kind of puzzle, the pieces of which do not fit together at all at first, but you can always find the connecting element that forms the artwork into a unit. I obtain the necessary raw materials from many sources, starting with flea markets, garbage disposals, and landfills, but if I find an interesting piece of junk on the street, I don’t leave it there either. What is useless waste for others is the raw material for an artwork for me. It is very inspiring in creation if you manage to think further about a form used in industry so that the end result is a living being that occurs in nature. Such is the bird made from cutlery, or even an insect made from bearings, or an Alien figurine made from winged nuts. The possibilities are endless, only imagination sets the limit to creation, obviously this is true for all branches of art. I am most interested in depicting the forms of nature (animals, plants) from the components created by the machine world and industrial design, but capturing human moods and movements is also a great challenge for me. Why do I create? First of all, it is relaxation and a hobby for me, but it is also a challenge because every day while browsing the web I come across an idea or technique that I want to try out, slightly adapting it to my own taste and possibilities. Sometimes the idea doesn’t work in reality, but I think that is also part of the challenge. It is a game, a logical puzzle and a way to relax at the same time. I hope that the works I have completed so far are thought-provoking and provide inspiration to all those who would like to devote their free time to creation, or who simply like this style and agree with this branch of recycling.
